Oak Hill Place was created out of a desire to see people live full, happy, and healthy lives. Wellness involves a holistic look at your life physically, spiritually, mentally, and emotionally. Through seminars offered throughout the year, we bring information and understanding to topics that effect all aspects of health and wellness. The focus is on natural remedies to help the body health itself. These common sense strategies will make you aware that you don't have to be wealthy to be healthy. Health professionals in the West Michigan area will conduct these valuable seminars.
Water Aerobics
Physical activity is perhaps the most important thing we can do to improve health and overall sense of wellness. The physical and psychological benefits of working out are numerous, including increasing mobility, reducing inflammation, improving self-esteem, restoring and even curing some conditions, and giving a fresh new positive outlook on life. Water aerobics is a low-impact activity that causes no stress on the joints, enhances muscular endurance, strength, and flexibility. When compared with aerobic activity on land it is more effective and burns more calories. You can beat the summer heat doing water aerobics, as well as, lose weight, get energized, and have fun!
Yoga
A natural path to health, yoga is breathing, stretching, and meditation all rolled into one. Stretching helps strengthen and stabilize the muscles and increase balance and flexibility resulting in increased stamina, strength and muscle tone. As a mind/body medicine, a yoga practice results in stress relief, reduced anxiety and depression, relaxation, physiological and mental benefits, as well as, assisting in weight loss and weight management. Studies show remarkable decreases in depression, as well as increases in feelings of peace and other health benefits for breast cancer patients doing restorative yoga. The goal is to balance the mind, body, and spirit. Come rejuvenate at one of the classes offered at Oak Hill Place. Yoga will typically be offered twice a week, and each session will be 6-10 weeks in length. Classes are available on a drop-in basis, or by signing up for a session.
